Oh, I thought you had a question that was easier to answer.
Well, first, public apologies to all that asked us the same question in private and I gave them false expectations. Yes, Sphinx is being planned for sometime and we postponed the release date a couple of times. So I won't give you any timeframe anymore. It will be released "when it's done". Most work being done now is on documentation.
But I can say we are really excited with the product, it's getting very good and complete. OAuth2 and (partial) OpenID Connect compatibility, it will be a full complete solution for authentication.
