Is there any chance that Subscriptionmanager is aligned with smart setup? it is not easy to check both tools for updates....and to take care not to install sw in the "wrong" installer
We are in a transition period. Eventually only TMS Smart Setup will be available, and all products will be installed from it.
Thx ffor the answer. When will be the migration process finished? Will be the betas includes into SmartSetup?
It will be finished just when "it works" and there is no need at all for old installers. The old installers were in development for over 20 years, there are a lot of small details that might still need to be migrated.
The next step is to move tms webcore to smartsetup, which we hope could be ready this month. And as said, when we fell confident that we have everything covered, old setups will be removed as supporting 2 parallel setups adds a lot of work with zero advantages.
Betas are planned in smartsetup too, using a different channel.
When switching from the subscription manager to smartsetup is the only way to uninstall everything first?
Yes, the structure is completely different and there is no other way than to uninstall everything first.
On the bright side, this will be done only once, and installing with smartsetup is so much faster and simpler than with the old setups, that it will be likely less effort than reinstalling when you change the delphi version or move to a new machine.
