Since today the connection to google maps has broken down with a JavaScript error: RefererNotAllowedMapError
You can try it with Google Directions Demo. It doesn't work.

Can you please check your API key restrictions settings in the Google Developer Console?
The API key you are using probably doesn't allow access from http://localhost or http://127.0.01.
