FNC Planner, creating items from selected period on planner

Hi,
I'm newbie to using FNC Planner so I would like an advise on "best practice" to create a planner item with my own dialog gui ?
Which event to use, and settings for properties on the planner ?

The CustomItemEditorForm property can be used for that purpose. Attached is a sample
