Hi You already have done the implementation of OpenLayers in WebOSMaps, but why not add a feature or a new component to let you add and consume new layers from other map services via the WMS and wfs protocol. Also add features to create new shapes, editing them, importing from GPX, XML, GEOJson. It will be great, I'm looking for that kind of component long time ago.
You can use now the Openlayers 3 wich is more powerful now.
