If you set enabled to false, the editor is disabled, but does not show as disabled. Other edits become greyed out when disabled.
The enabled property is not visible in the Object inspector.
Thanks for reporting. We exposed the Enabled property and adapted the look accordingly. This improvement will be in the next release.

An other thing I found is that when you click in the edit to add a value the caret is not visible, only when you start typing it becomes visible.
Can you give more details about circumstances / settings / IDE / Windows / ... as I cannot reproduce this here
I updated the VCL UI Pack and the problem is gone.
