Change size of default balloon marker ?

Hi

How to change the default size of balloon marker in Google Maps
It's too big.. and when used to show the location of many items it becomes messy to read.

Alternatively can the default be changed to something else?

eg. small coloured dot to show location on the map would be better.

You can define a custom image for the marker.
