Change multiple cells (How to implement in UI?)

Hello,

In a grid the users needs to be able to change a range of cells (in the same column) to the same value, -in one action.
Any good ideas on how to do this? What do other programs do? In Excel you need to change the value of one of the cells, and then "drag" the value from this cell into multiple cells (using the little square handle in the bottom right corner of the cell). 
Does the AdvStringGrid have any features to help implementing such a feature?
I know how to set the value on several cells porgammatically, of course, but the issue is how to provide the user with this functionality in an easy, user-friendly way.
